EDMONTON
Namestnikov for two 3rds isn't that much of an overreach-- maybe throw a 5th rounder from rangers
McQuaid for two fourths is usually what is paid for a player like him..

COLORADO
Spooner for two 3rds isn't an overreach either. same from above

CHICAGO
Zucc and kane on the same line would be insane.. just paying the asking price for zucc, doesn't necessarily need to be with Chicago

CALGARY
Put hayes with his friend Johnny Hockey for a 1st rounder, we can resign him in the offseason if he's serious abt wanting to stay a ranger -- we may be able to get more than a 1st rounder if his play picks up a bit

TAMPA
shattenkirk trade is similar to mcdonagh trade:
McD went for Hajek, Howden, a 2018 1st and a conditional 2nd
Jt Miller went for Namestnikov

McD is better than Shattenkirk i won't argue otherwise.
Instead of two high end prospects, 1st rounder and conditional 2nd rounder
it's high end defensive prospect and conditional 2nd + any deficiency is negated by taking on callahans contract.

As a Blues fan, I will be so pissed if Shatty ends up on the Lightning. He turned down signing in Tampa and costed us Johnathan Drouin and a first round pick

They could easily do below and have one of the best defensive cores in the league. You say shatty is a cap dump, find a better defensman (not on an ELC) that plays the right side, puts up .5ppg, and a lower cap hit. Rangers retain i'm not saying they don't.. but shattenkirk at 3.6m per year for two years and three playoffs is a steal and a half. If you look at his cf stats you can see that he makes the team around him better. No he isn't 26 anymore and he's bound to decline. For tampa, this is an all in move

i felt the same when they offered drouin for yandle.. pissed me off when they didn't take it since AV put yandle on the bottom line (below freaking dan boyle as well)

Well, there's an issue here. I probably can't find a player that hits all of your requirements. However, I can find the first one, which is, simply put, better. The last time Shattenkirk was in the playoffs, he was almost scratched. He's a constant liability, and teams have learned their lesson with him. He can't play in the playoffs.

Someone else made the point recently that if we chuck Shatty, we'll have a harder time signing FA's. I don't think there's enough of a value in a return for him that would be worth doing him dirty like that and also not having him on the team.
