how about gardiner for pysyk straight up? Let's get one thing straight, the leafs are definitely not getting a first round pick for gardiner, let alone a first round pick, some other stuff, and a good player that's apparently capable of playing on their top pair. get real.

not to be that guy but why couldn't they get a 1st rounder for him? look at some of the most recent trades for dmen that put up solid offensive numbers? look at shattenkirk the year he got traded to the caps. he finished the year with 56 points and his value was 1st rounder conditional 2nd rounder and a solid b level prospect......gardner had 52 points last season thats very similar to shattenkirk why is this so unthinkable? you could argue hes tml best dman stats wise

Anddddd then shattenkirk basically got benched in the playoffs. So that’s a good example. If the leafs find a gm that’s a complete moron, they might get that price. It’s more likely that if they want to move him, teams check out some tape from the Boston series and offer up lower level picks if anything

point is, the shattenkirk trade was hideous for the caps. Shattenkirk is brutal. Yes, he gets you 50 points, but at what cost? It's the same way people say, "well, ya, if rick nash got all this, then duchene is worth even more!" ummm, no, the rick nash trade was just awful. If you can find a team to make an awful trade, more power to ya, but I don't see him getting anything of significant value as a rental.

nooooo, the caps kinda sucked that year and shattenkirk was a big reason why. He's just not a good d man. The puck DID bounce their way (big time) this year, but I'm quite confident if Shattenkirk was still on that team, it wouldn't have been the case. He's garbage.

Great team when playing against a weak opponent, 0 tenacity in the face of adversity. Washington was washington. They caught lightning in a bottle this season, but for a decade you just knew that they could go 82-0 in the regular season, and lose in the second round. tehy just didn't have the endurance for the playoffs.

playoffs are more luck than anything but you need to win to get in
