Description
This would be completely out of character for the Jets as they have methodically build this team on a steadfast draft and develop plan. All four key pieces coming to the Jets are 25 years old.

I really like that line-up. Be interested in hearing from armchair managers from other teams to see what they think of those trades. Certainly quantity for quality but there seems to be good quality prospects in each trade. Might be really tough to resign all these players as their contracts expire. Most would be due a raise.

Very Interesting, the one deal that sticks out to me as is the Ekholm Deal. I can't see Nashville wanting to move another Defenseman after they moved Jones last year. Would need to make a big offer to make that deal happen.

The thinking there is that the preds can only protect 3 defence in an expansion draft. If any of their top 4 were left unprotected, they would surely be scooped up. Jets (like 28 other teams) would like to capitalize on that vulnerability.

The Colorado trade is overkill. Myers and a 3rd is fair value for Duchie. Myers is a top pairing dman, Morrisey is one of the top dman prospects in the league, the draft pick will be early 20s so there's still decent prospects available. Duchene is very good but lets not get carried away here.

The Nashville trade is one THEY don't need to make. Pretty fair value overall but if I'm Nashville, I don't need to make this trade.

The others are good trades for both teams. very plausible.

They don't have to necessarily protect 3 defensmen, they can do all 4 if they want but it comes at the cost of a forward or two that won't be protected. They only have a couple forwards that they really need to protect, the others while big losses are still replaceable.

I love the title, but I don't think these trades are a fit. Value is good, but I just don't see the 'why'. WPG has to keep Trouba, IMO. NYI probably aren't interested in prospects. NSH doesn't need to move Ekholm. The Avs would want a forward back as their starting D and D prospects are pretty deep for 16-17. The goalie market is so flooded, Carolina can do better than Pavelec; Reimer, Andersen, and Pickard would be at the top of their list.

IMO, with the division so full of older teams, WPG should hold onto and play the youngsters now. Unload veterans like Enstrom and Stafford, and shoot Pavelec into the sun. Collect another high draft pick in 2017, then go big in 17-18.

Nice work. Maybe the Nashville doesn't get done by Nashville, but still there are lots of other options for a LHD. A little different look to the Jets.

I'm not saying the Jets should be spending to the cap on a non playoff team. But with David Thompson one of the owners of the Jets, money should not be problem with Jets. He could lose 20m a year for 50 years and it wouldn't make a dent.

Palhal, it is nice to know that the Jets have the wealthiest owner in the league. When the Jets need to spend to the cap to win, there will be no "internal cap". Peterman's comments are spot on. Jets don't need to do anything but be patient. They have the best crop of young talent in the division. I appreciate how much fun it is to see what the Jets could do to convert future potential into current roster pieces but there is a reason Cheveldayoff has an office and I don't. Maybe one of these trades to create a stir...
