So, to understand what you are going for here, you'd really have to show what you had in mind for the 2016 draft pick and where he might fit.

In 17-18, I would hope that Liepsic, Bozak, Lupul, Gardiner (just not a fan), Bibeau or Garret are on my team.

My real concern is still no goalie or top 4 d added and no real first line centre. Leafs will need to take action on a UFA or two and perhaps even an RFA to make all this happen… That, and, you can't carry more then 23 guys, which would imply a far better CAP opportunity.

The contracts for the RFAs are very high(Hyman!!!) IMO. With all of the prospects and picks they have I think these guys should get bridge deals around $1m and be given a chance to prove their value. Neither Bibeau or Sparks have done much to prove they're going to be NHL goalies. If the Leafs are to trade JVR I would want a potential top 4 d-man coming back.

Way too much for JVR. CHI says no.

JVR cap hit $2.25m for 1 player
TT + Shaw cap hit = $4.4m based on above contract for shaw for 2 players.

CHI prefers the latter I would assume.

The original trade was made by EXO2769, and I just expanded on it.
Maybe Hyman made too much but I was being optimistic. Bridge contracts are sorta being phased out. In the last collective agreement the compensation to be paid to RFA is small. So signing true NHL guys for a million or so probably can't happen. Other teams would offer more.
Otis, I assumed you meant you don't want Bozak and Lupul on my team. I might agree but there isn't necessarily a productive way to ease them out of the lineup. No 1st line centre? Hopefully Nylander is going to be that role, and maybe Matthews too. Top 4 Dman. again Rielly, Gardiner...will develop further, add Zaitsev and Valiev, good young group in my IMO. And check out the box score of last night's AHL game and Connor Carrick.....3 goals and an assist. Again there is cap room to add if necessary. Gee we talking 2017.

I agree with the other's, a lot of the RFA signings are way too much and no a lot of teams would not offer more than a 1 million for most of those RFAs. Also there is no way Chicago gives up that much for JVR especially T.T even if TO retained 50% that is overreaching. I can see Shaw and a pick or two that's about it but why would TO do that?
