Agreed. Price is Canadien forever with that contract. Bob would get similar contract which I hope blues dont give for him, that would be bad, since his playoff record isnt great. The only legit option in my eyes is Holtby who would get raise in about 7-7.5mil range for not 8yrs but rather 4-5yrs. Blues can afford to trade for him and its the best way of giving Washington what they need. The trade I suggest is Allen+1st for Holtby with re-signing in the 2019 offseason. It would give Caps cap room for re-signing young guys and experienced guy to partner Samsonov (the plan in my eyes would be to split duties in 19/20 between Samsonov and Allen 50/50 and Samsonov becoming starter in 20/21 with Allen as a backup (Allen could be protected in expansion draft and Samsonov would be exempt)) who is on 2yr contract instead of 1 and solid affordable money. And it would also help Blues, giving them top tier goaltender who is stable in playoffs and can teach young guys in the system how to be elite goaltender.

He is a starter, played 61, 59 games in last couple of years and had .915/.907 save percentage. Average starter numbers I would say, counting his january to it he would be better.

Allen has some inconsistency but when he is playing well he is an above average NHL goalie on a good contract. But the Blues are in the perfect situation to have Husso take over for Allen OR for Allen to prove he is a bonafide elite starter.
