I agree with you on everything except the Calgary deal. Calgary gets a very solid proven fourth line guy who has grit but can also put up decent points. think stajan when he first came to Calgary. they also get a decent third pairing defenseman that will replace stone and challenge our young players to be better for a spot. (not unlike Stone)
but perhaps the most important part of this trade is that both of those guys have 1 year remaining on their contracts meaning we save a full year of cap space if we don't want to re-sign either guy
In return for taking the extra year of stone Ottawa uniting the stone brothers might be enough to convinve Mark stone to re-sign there. (doenst usually work like that but hey you never know.
