I believe Johnson for Faulk straight up is a fair deal.
At first glance Faulk might have slightly higher value, but Johnson is signed for 4 more years and at a cap number that will look very appealing to a lot of teams, especially when you factor in a few more years of cap inflation.
I'm not sure what Dallas would be willing to part with to dump Spezza's contract, nor if they're even interested in dumping him at all. Still, Shore and a 3rd rounder seems like a decent return to take on the cap hit for a year. What I don't understand, however, is why you would buy him out with only one year left? It's not like they don't have the cap space to fit him in for that year. Why not simply let him go in free agency in order to prevent his and Semin's buyout from creating a cap deadweight of 4,83 million for the 19-20 season?
