While I agree about the Toronto/Montreal trade possibility, is that not a pretty enticing offer if you're Montreal?

As a Leaf fan, I hate it. 19m for two guys. Leafs have no cap flexibility for years. 19m? I would rather spend 10m on Gardiner, Bozak and Matthews and spend the other 9m elsewhere in the future....Hey maybe Tavares or Price.

The Matthews part is enticing sure but... Why do we need Bozak? He is basically Desharnais with a worse contract. We don't even have room for Desharnais now at centre so why would we need Bozak especially if we have Matthews? Gardiner would be DESTROYED by Therrien. If Therrien doesn't like PKs game he's going to hate Gardiner's especially since it doesn't come with 60pts like PKs does.

This trade leaves our D looking like pure crap, and basiclly starts off a rebuild. No Thanks.

And from a Leafs point a view. Why would a team in a rebuild want to trade a way a future star like Matthews for a 9mil contract like Subban's. Subban's prim is now but the Leafs are not ready to win now. This is a short cut that will lead to nothing for the Leafs.

The Leafs are rebuilding the right way. Short cuts gave you 1 playoff in 10 years. I doubt Shanahan and Lou want to repeat Burke's mistakes.

Love the creativity but not sure I would want to effectively trade Matthews for Stamkos, thats just a bad deal. And, I agree with Habsessed above not sure I'd want Subban either at $9M…
