Like the previous posters on here I seriously doubt Ottawa would trade another first rounder out, even for someone as good as Spurgeon. They need more futures not less.
While Zucker for Faulk on the surface does seem fair, Carolina appears weaker at C/RW than at LW if you judge by the natural positions of their forward group. I know Zucker can play both wings, but he seems to do better playing LW. Coyle would perhaps make more sense for Carolina. However, from what I've heard he is the only natural right-shot on their roster so that may be a deal breaker for Minnesota.
Trading Spurgeon does make sense though. Minnesota isn't a cup contender and they need to get younger. The next couple of drafts looks really strong. Getting worse in the short term at the benefit of a few really solid futures could do wonders for Minnesota.
