I think trade value is out of balance as well - Leafs giving up the two best and most proven players in Nylander and Gardiner. Montour is a slight downgrade from Gardiner but 4 years younger and is RHD. But the big one is Nylander - it would be a mistake to move him. If Leafs were looking to use him as a trade chip their trade partners should have to pay the price for a future #1 or #2 centre. That's an expensive piece to trade for.

Comtois may be a very good power winger in a few years, but he's still unproven at pro level.

Nylander is worth more than Montour, Kase is good though and you can argue that he makes up the difference. Gardiner is worth more than Comtois though. Probably take out the other pieces going to Anaheim and throw in a little something going Toronto's way

trade is pretty far considering gardener is absolute garbage that wont be resigned or wanted by the ducks

Ducks certainly don't need another LHD, so I think Gardiner just isn't necessary in any deal. Same with Neilsen an unlikely NHLer ever.
So make deal Montour and Kase for Nylander. and you got a discussion. Leafs get the two lesser pieces potentially than one Nylander, but getting a long term # 2 RHD and if Kase if projected as #2/3 winger, I could see the Leafs doing that deal. I know many Leaf fans really like. the potential of Nylander (so do I) but maybe Montour is what the the Leafs need and if Kase is solid.....then it's a real fair deal
