WPG BOS (Trouba deal)

Description
BOS being a place Trouba likely would extend makes the deal work. BOS is allowed to talk to him and figure out what he'd be looking at (and what they'd accept) for a long term outlook. They can't sign extension until Jan 1st but terms would be set at 8 years 6.7M per. A McAvoy-Trouba-Carlo top 6 is solid especially with Chara-Krug-Grzelcyk left side. They do have to give up a future stud in Donato, a decent prospect in Lindren and a 1st to do so but the upgrade on player and term (with extension) on Miller is well worth it for a team that's on the cusp. BOS also needs to keep up with the powerhouses/arms race between TB and TOR in the east.

Winnipeg moves Trouba and gets a replacement for the now in Miller, although not better he's a solid shut down RHD that can bridge the gap. Donato is an excellent C whos NHL ready as potentially a 2nd line C and a decent D prospect and a 1st (likely a late 1st but still).

Petan moved to VAN for a pick as he will never crack the top 12 and being from VAN it was doing him a favor as he actually would have a chance to crack that roster.

    like the trades but Morrissey is under paid IMO 5.5+ not sure i would bury Chariot

    and your thoughts on who that'd be? I think BOS keeps Carlo as the 3rd pairing and moves Miller due to age and his contract expiry after next season instead as Carlo is more than capable of handling 3rd pairing minutes especially if paired with one of Chara-Grzelyck- Krug.

    Morrisey has no rights, this takes him till UFA and only buys 2 years of UFA status. 5x6 is pretty fair all things considered but if term goes to 7 or 8 I'd have to agree with you.

    We aren’t trading Donato. If we could find a taker for Backes we could take Perrault back as well. You dump 2 contracts you don’t want.. But we aren’t doing what you proposed.

    If Kevan Miller is moved in Trouba deal you are basically looking to add 1st rounder and solid NHL-calibre C prospect like Studnicka.. Troubadours value is high. Also it would depend if he wants longterm deal or not.. thats why the pick should be conditional 2nd/1st depending on how he signs..

    I'll get crucified by B's fans, but I do that deal for Trouba if he's coming with an extension and we're not giving up a 1st (maybe a 2nd + conditional 3rd that becomes another 2nd if he plays 70 games). Lining up McAvoy - Trouba - Carlo down the right side would have us set for 8-10 years. My concern with Trouba is he's failed to play over 65 games in 4 of his 5 seasons and more than 60 over the last two seasons.

    my comment was based on your signing 5 m x 6 years that won't happen he'll bridge then 3-4 m X 2 years How can you say 5x6 is fair when Skjie got 5.25x6

    Won’t crucify you. Understand the logic. Personally i don’t like Donato and 1st in the deal. Been tossing around a scenario the last month of moving Backes to Preds or Vegas then trading Carlo/Heinen/Cehlarik to Jets for Trouba and Perreault. I think Backes would waive NMC for either, especially Preds. He’d be a big upgrade to their 3rd lines and locker room. They have the cap space. Jets get rid of a guy who leaves 1st chance he gets and a contract they don’t want. Get Trouba replacement, 2 young wings, lesser payroll. B’s upgade on D. Get 3rd line center to give the kids another year to develop.

    I'm ok with Donato consider you still have Marchand, DeBrusk, Heinen, Bjork, Cehlarik and Lauko (I think he ends up at LW) who can all still play the LW. I'm not a huge fan of the 1st, but that's because Sweeney loves being able to draft and develop.
