Description

Winnipeg replaces Trouba with a defensively responsible RHD, Trouba goes to CBJ who now has a 1-2 punch of Jones-Trouba on the right side. Winnipeg also gets a cost controlled #2 C to play behind Scheif.

Ros gets a shot at C this year between Perrault and Little to begin his C development. little and him will switch back and forth throughout the season.

Winnipeg is absolutely reluctent to trade Trouba and the most likely scenario is that he plays out the year and is dealt with in the off-season but there's potential of moving him now while his value is higher.

Can't see CBJ trading two players with long term for two years of Trouba. You mentioned Wennberg as 2C and he has 5 years left on his deal, so why would CBJ do the trade.

WPG would need to add. From what I see is it’s a top 4 dman and a 13th forward and a second for a top 4 dman, a top 6 forward and a 1st.....

From the logic side, Columbus is already good on D, they'd be looking for forward/center help in my opinion. This deal leaves them even more bare up front. This is also assuming he is resigning, which is a big "?".

Petan, is smallish, one dimensional and hasn't really even established himself as an NHL caliber player. The Rangers have lots of smallish forwards, and tons of LHD. Not really interesting enough to entice the Rangers to take on a contract and a player who's health is in question. The pick makes the deal even worse.

What if CBJ keep their 1st, and WPG doesn't give a 2nd. Winnipeg instead gives their 1st in the package so that:

CBJ gets Trouba-Copp-1st
WPG gets Savard-Wennberg

I still feel like it should be looked at as

Trouba>Wennberg
Savard>Copp
No doubt there may be pieces needed to be add. But I don’t that the margin between the packages is a 1st Round Pk.
