Great signing by the Nashville Predators. This proves once again that Nashville has the best defense in the NHL and the third pairing (their main weakness), was adressed. Hamhuis is a good defensive defensman who can step up in the second pairing when needed.

Good thing he is on the third pair. He's 35 and probably can't play a full season in the top 4. Good for me. Probably got to Nashville because of the second year.

Good signing, he can definitely provide value on the 3rd pair, and has been a top 4 for most of his career (including last year), so having a guy that can step up can be big. The 2nd year is only a risk if he retires, as $925k of the $1.25M can be buried in the minors if for some reason they need to move it out, but realistically, as long as he is an NHL player, $1.25M isn't going to be a cap killer.
