Jets would have more interest in Gardiner +1st than Liljigren I think. Looking to win now

Cant resign both Matthews and Marner now. One has to go. Kapanen and Johansson are further complications. You're likely at least a mill off on Nylanders contract.

Trading away goalie depth for nothing. Rick Nash isn't needed. Too much to pay for a two year rental for Trouba. Carrying over Bonuses into next year. No thanks from Leafs,

As tempting as the offer is, and I would sweeten it with the forward prospect you pick, I don't think we can afford Trouba. Not even trading away Kapanen would do it . . . probably have to unload Nylander to keep Trouba after this year. But thanks.

Did you guys even pay attention to the deals? AM and MM can easily fit the following year

Ok so lets factor this. Yes you are right you can resign AM and MM next season. What are you going to fill the rest of the roster with? Right now at the end of next season (keeping it simple and not talking overages, signing bonus or any of that junk), this roster would have 28 mill in cap space. Lets say cap goes up 2.5 mill so roughly 30.5mill available to spend. So AM and MM resign and take up (conservatively) 18 mill? Great. Lets also tack on an additional 1 mill to Nylander since you under paid his contract. So now your left with what 12.5mill? from your starting 30.5. You still have 12 spots on your roster you need to fill up, plus a little wiggle room for injuries, in-season transactions etc.

So yes, I apologize you are a 100% right that both AM and MM can fit next season no problem. You paid a lot for a 1 year rental in Trouba. Not to mention you no longer have half your defence, back-up goalie and have further depleted your youth depth on the wings ( I know some would resign but 12 mill runs out quick when you need to sign 10 players).

Been proven many times they can keep everyone and add a dman. Nylander at 5.5 is not unrealistic. It's called a bridge

1) 6 years of term is not a bridge contract.
2) Players like Nylander aren't bridge type players. He's played well enough to earn a Pastrnak type contract.

Yes he is...but go take a look at where Pastrnak was when he signed that contract. It wasn't the player he is now.

In his first 3 seasons as a pro, Pastrnak (GP-G-Pts) = 172-59-123. Nylander = 185-48-135. Those stats are a wash. Nylander has also strung together two equivalent seasons while Pastrnak had two nothing half season campaigns followed by one strong season. Boston banked on that and now looks like they have won that contract. Had Pastrnak's contract been up now, it would be a much higher salary. So yes, Nylander has earned himself a Pastrnak type contract.

LOL OH MY!

So losing those goalies on waivers is more desirable? Not sure what you are reading when you speak of the bonus overage? With bonuses included the Leafs have 1 million in salary cap to spare. The rest of course is our personal opinions on what those players could bring to the team.

Well it's a good thing stats are everything and on ice play does not matter.

I've seen people giving Nylander 7 million a year. He does not have much leverage in negotiations. He will get a deal that starts around 4 mil and goes up each year til it averages out . Don't be surprised if that average is slightly lower than 5.5. I would happily trade Gardiner instead of Lillegren

Pickard cleared waivers last year, what makes him so valuable to other NHL teams now? If claimed, player have to stay on their NHL rosters, are teams really so ill supplied that they are going into the season without an back up NHL goalie. And those piclks are virtually worthless, hardly worth the Leafs not having goalie depth.
