There’s no way we’d get a 1st for Okposo
At this point, we might have to ADD to get someone to take his contract

Play him with Eichel this season & he will bounce back and be tradable
But right now...
i don’t see him having much value at all

Ummm, why would you trade Nylander.... I know that he has been "disappointing" to many but we have to give him a chance. He is only 20, most forwards don't start their career until 21 or 22. If we trade him to a team that will be patient with him (which Buffalo will anyways), he will regain his confidence and energy and will be a dominate NHL player.

if maroon gets a 2nd then okpo can get a 1st. kane was weird situation because of attitude and history where as okpo is seen as positive and well liked. tho it would most likely be a trade deadline deal to give team playoff push.

i am actually not for trading nylander but i made this list of under performers and what i can see their value as. Gadjovich was a good 2nd round pick and a 3rd added to that makes it fair i think.

Not a chance in hell

No one is trading a 1st for that contract
Trying to compare that with a rental deal is apples & oranges
Okposo’s contract devalues him A LOT

If Botts could’ve gotten a 1st for him...
tell me...
what hasn’t he already made that trade?

I have to agree, plus he has health concerns on top of the bad contract. It would be tough to trade him now. If he has a great year, (20G 55+P) I could see us getting a late first at the draft. or a conditional 2nd at the deadline

top 6 guys who get 50+ points consistently rarely dont get a first round pick as a return. okpo is about 5 points back of that playing on a bad team after a serious health scare caused by medication. i think most GM's would see the value of him but if he fetched a late 2nd and good prospect i would be cool with that.

its just what i think he could get as max value back. tho i only see guys like Beaulieu and Larsson actual being traded before season start.

Okposo is coming off a bad season,
no matter how u slice it

And you’re not taking into account his contract,
which devalues any return we’d get

Again...
if Botts could’ve moved him for a 1st, or even a 2nd and a prospect...
then he’d have done it already

^this!!!

If Okposo was coming off a GOOD season, instead of a sh!tty one, then a team might be interested enough to overlook his contract

But coming off a bad season... no way
Not at the cost you’re proposing

MAYBE... someone would be interested in “buying low” and giving up a 4th for him... but idk if anyone would even do that?

We should just play him with Eichel this year
Get his numbers up
And then look to move him NEXT OFFSEASON

i disagree with the 2nd part botts doesnt want to trade the whole team, or he thinks value will go up perhaps from playing better.
if he plays top 6 min 7.5% cap hit isnt bad and thats only going down with time. his actual pay is also going down with time witch should entice smaller market teams.
if everyone could also remember that he was top UFA a couple seasons ago that be great too.
tho i get it you all think he sucks and botts should pray for a 3rd round pick for him.

He doesn’t suck...
but he has a BAD contract,
and
is coming off a BAD season

You can continue to pretend he has value,
but it’s just not true

No it doesn't. Your saying trading an elite prospect for a meh prospect and a 3rd is about right?

i think you missed the sarcasm there bud
i agree that the term sucks for okpo but he filled a void when he was signed
even if we just get a 3rd round pic in a year or 2 for him its a win as it cost the organization nothing
he is still far from the worst contract in the league and is really only getting around 1.5m$ to 1m$ more then he should for his play. be glad its not carry price bad

if nylander doesnt show up for 20 nhl games this year you can cross that elite bit out, and if you arnt going to be a top 6 player its better to have power forward who can play better defense and slide into 3rd line.

Of course there’s worse contracts...
but that doesn’t mean we’d be able to get a 1st for Okposo
Hell, we wouldn’t even get a 2nd right now

If we play him with Eichel this year,
that will get his numbers back up

And then NEXT OFFSEASON,
maybe a team will have seen him rebound and be willing to take on that contract
You just can’t expect that with him coming off a poor season

It’s just not gonna happen NOW though
Not for a 1st
Again...
if Botts could get that return,
Okposo would already have been traded

you really never offer more then bad season, or bad contract when talking about value. could you please try and toss some stats up or examples of value for reference.
it really makes it seem like you know what you are talking about when giving examples and not just disgruntled.

Okposo is 30 years old,
with 5 years left on his deal @ 6mil per

44points last year,
his LOWEST points per game average in the last 5years
His 2nd lowest, was the previous season with us
So he’s not trending in a good direction

Now i can’t give u examples of what the return for a player with stats like this gets...
because they are UNTRADABLE

If u think we can get a 1st for him...
go ahead & list a 40-50point player who still has 5years left at 6mil per who got a 1st or 2nd in return

I can’t think of anyone
Your example of Maroon for a 2nd is apples & oranges bc he was a deadline deal and he was strictly a rental
Maroon didn’t have 5 years left on his contract
