what do you think it would be if someone were to take his long contract, at 6m with his decline skillset? I'm open to ideas. I don't think I'm far off in value in that trade.

I doubt Oilers will give up anything better then 2nd round pick or B level prospect with some retention and they won't do this until they can't afford to sign a key piece of the team.

then I hope he does it for sure. everyone deserves a second chance. I don't condone what voynov did but we can't take his and his families life away.

as an oilers fan you say a second round pick wich isn't bad but it probably means it will end up more. The moves give them the cap space to sign their RFA d-man that they need to.

They have enough to sign Nurse currently. Next offseason will be the year of shedding Sekera and Russell NMC are modified and Lucic gets 1 last big bonus on July 1 then is a 3-4M a year actual dollar contract. There can be a ton of free space after next year so they won't be giving away a lot to shed dumps

Next year Lucic is still a 6m cap hit regardless of actual dollars, then you have to see if you can get one of the 10 and 15 teams they chose to actually want to take them and have the cap space to do the trade and then still need to sign Puljujarvi and sign at least 1 goalie as you might have a rookie ready to be a back up or sign a cheap back up and a starter.

Also assuming they let the other 4 roster RFAs walk or give them no pay raise.

I think your outlook of a ton of cap space is not very accurate and if someone was willing to pick up Lucic they would jump at the chance. Your team with a good goalie is a contender.

I agree that nobody should mob him in the streets but to sign him to an organization would ruin your locker room chemistry and hurt your gm rep
