Too big of a swing on defense strength for CGY to gamble. I don’t think Treliving would ever consider sending Valimaki 3 hours North.

EDM ends up with the cleaner package. Brodie and Välimäki are the two best assets here, arguably. Puljujarvi is very enticing (and the 1st), but CGY already has better forward depth right now than they have for about 14 years.

I do have to agree with you this trade assumes Anderson and kulak take another step forward in skill defensively. even with losing brodie I would still rate that defensive line above average in the NHL
