Toronto can't afford more then a 1 year rental of Panarin. He will command $8M per year and maybe more less then a year from now.

I'd agree with those above who have mentioned the issue about Panarin's next contract, which could be between $8-10 million AAV. So, automatically, the deal needs to be bigger. Something like Panarin, Murray, Savard and Dubois for Nylander, Gardiner, Zaitsev and Kadri would be the major moving blocks, maybe some picks or prospects included on one or both ends as well. I haven't specifically broken down the numbers, but the Leafs would need to relieve themselves of a couple of longer term deals to make this work.

Nylander somehow makes it into every trade proposal. Would Dubas flush Nylander for a rental? That's a hard no.

True for one year, But i doubt any team gives up the pieces that it would cost for Panarin for one year. Any team that deals for him will want an extension in place. And that's where he controls the situation.
