Description

According to the Edmonton Journal Darnell nurse isn’t interested in signing a long term deal with the oilers. Now this is very interesting to me due to the fact that McDavid is one of his best friends and he gets to play with him on the nightly basis. There are also reports that nurse maybe only getting bridge deal as well. Could the leafs being looking into him? Reasons I believe so.

A) he’s a Toronto boy and it’s time to bring all them home.
B) he was the captain of the grey hounds when Dubas was the GM so there is a connection in there as well.
C) even though he shoots left we have guys like rielly and even dermott who have experience playing on the right.
D) we adds some good grit so the people who still believe we need guys who can fight we have a guy like that.
E) Babcock would fall in love with him in a heartbeat

Now he’s definitely going to be a bit of a step price but I definitely see the leafs looking into him

Nielsen will probably never make these team unless of injury. I see with especially with the leafs pick of Sandin and the guys like borgman and the way Rosen’s AHL season finish this guy is getting pushed down the depth charts. Oilers would definitely appreciate another D-man prospect.

Also we will definitely not have the money to resign
Gardiner so a get som value out of him.

Brown was a good on McDavids wing in junior definitely looks like he could be a great McDavid wing man again

The agent suggested the team can't offer a deal with term because they have less than 5M in cap space.

I feel you could give Gardiner, Neilson and a pick for Nurse, you don't need to give away an asset like Brown.

But also if you are nurse you kinda have to look at this teams future and wonder man do I really want to stick around in the sh*t hole. Also you only play for so many years in the league and you gotta try and make as much money as possible to support your family after hockey

I think it a very fair deal. You know what you're getting in Brown, could certainly help their PK too. Oilers might like Borgman instead of Neilsen in a trade. Gardiner could certainly help the Oilers for at least this year. Leafs don't have much cap space room next year either but Nurse at 3m or so....Leafs could set at LHD for few years. Reilly, Dermot, Nurse.

I like it but Oilers can't take on Brown's salary, change it to a pick and done.

I didn't look at the trade the first time around, only the write up. That's a massive overpay with Gardiner involved and Edmonton doesn't have the cap space for almost 7M.

Brown, Borgman/Rosen, and a pick is fair.
