Patches is probably gonna run any team a lot more than that man. Tanev deal seems reasonable

I think Montreal is reducing Patches value every 30 seconds! Guess we see what it takes!

I have no issue with either deal, so I'd say you will probably hear it from some Habs fans about the return, which might be a little low, even for a rental. In the crazy unlikely scenario the Habs agreed to that crazy offer, obviously the Leafs take Max on as a rental for the year, and perhaps even try to negotiate an extension. However, my feeling is that the Habs will try to milk as much value out of their captain as possible and allow a trading team to work out a new contract with him before a deal gets done, so it's not a pure rental deal. Either way, I'd doubt, in the current state of the Leafs roster, we could afford Max long term. I also have some doubts about his leadership ability, but that may be more a reflection of his surroundings and team's awful play at times, then his leadership.

No question if I'm the Leafs I'm looking at using our current cap flexibility in a one and done scenario! The offer reflects the gamble of Patches coming off a poor season and injury.
