You seriously think you could get Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Zaitsev and not one, but two first round picks?
WHAT. THE. ???.
As a Bruins fan, A fair deal would be Nylander & EITHER Zaitsev or ONE 1st round pick.
If I were Toronto, I would not do Marner one for one. Did you see that kid in the playoffs? Both He and Nylander are under control for 5ish more years. Karlsson is great, but you are seriously overvaluing a guy who A) everyone knows WILL NOT resign with the Sens B) has one year left on his contract and can hit free agency and go anywhere he wants. Assuming winning is important to him, Toronto has their foot in the door, or whole head if we're being honest. They really don't have much to gain by trading for him, if they wait it out, they can keep everyone. I am assuming much like Tavares there are only a handful of teams he would chose to play for. Safe Bet Toronto is one of them. They would gain the ability to negotiate against another of his teams of choice and an extra year, but I am not sure an extra year gives anyone an advantage. He can more than make up money in endorsements.
You'll get a good return for him, but It's not going to be great, you have limited options. Tavares sort of set the baseline there, and I feel like winning is super important to him. Pick 5-6 teams he wants to play for and they are bidding against each other and upcoming free agency. Yes, a sign and trade is possible, but he still has to agree. My guess is his list would look pretty similar to Tavares' - Maybe add a few more teams like Philly, Florida & Vegas.
Also - I know he has a no trade to 10 teams, but he can make it pretty clear he won't sign an extension.
