How does trading 2 of TO's top 3 Right D constitute an upgrade of the right handed d? The only right side d you kept is the only left handed one we had on that side. How about Carrick gets a full season and Gardiner is flipped for either futures or maybe sent to Vancouver for Tanev. Getting rid of Zaitsev (who is a top 4) and Carrick make the defence much worse. The lineup you have here has 1 right handed defenceman in the starting lineup.

Right. And yet the right side is still better than Hainsey-Zaitsev-Polak-Carrick.
