Vegas doesn't really need Karlsson and certainly don't want Ryan at 6m. Vegas can wait till next summer to sign Karlsson if they want instead of giving up and accepting a cap dump. I wish when folks make these type of trades that put a lot of cap onto one team that would have the dignity of showing if the cap works for the "receiving" team. To me, when I can't see it, it's just a unrealistic trade.

Overpay from Vegas. They're one of the only teams that can afford both Ryan and Karlsson and it's not like there's a high demand of teams trying to trade for that package. Ottawa isn't going to get the moon unless they keep Ryan and trade Karlsson with an extension in place.

Sens are likely better off taking Tatar and Ryan out of the trade. There is no good trade with Bobby Ryan, just play him.
