Malkin is worth more, he's a legitimate first line center.

Malkin is always injured, and zibanejad is supposed to be a first line centre. I don't get what's not to like in the deal, Ottawa gives their most skilled forward in Hoffman, their most defensive dman in methot, and a first round pick, all for an elite centre, I think it's more than fair

Buddy it's honestly not even close to fair value. If you want Malkin the package would include, Zibanejad, Ceci, Lazar and a first round pick. It seems like a lot but Malkin is elite.

Methot is good. But isn't a necessity for the pens. It's not close to getting Malkin.
The pens are currently playing a style that revolves around speed and puck movement. Hoffman would be a nice addition but would need to be signed and it's still unknown what his camp would be asking for.
The pens would also need a 2C coming back as trading Malkin leaves a big hole. So either Turris or Zibanejad. Plus.... Malkin is a legitimate first line center and a game changer as mentioned above he's elite.

Except Zibanejad will soon become "Elite", and zibanejad, ceci, lazar, and a first would mean getting more than Malkin back in return, because Zibanejad will soon be a first line centreman, and Ceci will be a top 2 d-man, and I have no clue how Lazar will turn out, nor what that first round pick can be. So that trade is obviously one the pens would like but it would never happen.

Malkin is definitely and elite player....when he's in the lineup. If you believe the Pens need a change and so does Ottawa...then it's a fair deal.
Personally for a a "rebuilding team", I wouldn't want 30 year old Malkin and his 9.5m contract a year, so I can't see anyone Ottawa wanting to do it. The Pens also seem to "Going for the Cup" mode so this would be a tough sell to the fans, though Hoffman (especially if he signs a long term deal) and Methot would provide instant improvement to LW and D.

I completely agree with you, it's just Melnyk promised for changes on the team, so, the roster will change and I feel like management for some reason doesn't like Hoffman.

If I were Pittsburgh I'd take that. Hoffman is very good, first rounder, and Methot. This is pretty close to being there value wise

Glad you aren't the Penguins GM. This is insanely undervalued.

Zibanejad will never be elite. He is really good, but I don't think you understand what elite means. He will never even be a top 20 center in the league, let alone top 5 center like Malkin already is.

Thank you someone that understands. Zibanejad won't even be a top 30-40 centre in the league to be honest. More like a amazing 2nd line centre or a good first line centre. Nothing more.
