You know that's probably going to be a really good change at the 1st next year.

Karlsson is probably going to push for FA too.

hard pass on that EK deal, thats too much for the Avs to give up for him.

One o fthe best Dman in the league aside, you arent giving them more what Vegas offered for him while including that Ott 1st round pick in 2019. As soon as that pick is involved the price is seriously discounted

I think that'd be an excellent incentive for OTT to deal with COL though. If the Sens think they're going to be competitive next year, they're as stupid as they seem. COL just happens to have the most valuable pick of OTT to deal with and OTT has the most valuable trade chip to move.

They dont have to add Avs 1st round pick or 3rd round pick. If the sens want to go info a full rebuild. Just give the Avs the 4th overall and they move Karlsson for the best deal to try to gain a 1st round pick next year.

Or they trade Karlsson to the Avs and get their 2019 1st and 3rd round picks back with Barrie to get the ball rolling. Wont be giving them any higher end Avs prospects to make this nightmare for the Sens to end

You'd be a ruthless GM. I hear you. I know COL values Kerfoot and Meloche but who knows where Dorion stands with them. Gotta figure they'd want prospects to rebuild with but maybe those two and subtract the 2019 COL 1st pick would suffice, for sure.

Kerfoot I would hold onto. Meloche I would listen to. I think Otts 1st, Barrie, Meloche and Otts 3rd is more than fair considering their situation.

Would it be fair to say Barrie would be replaceable simply because Karlsson is a far better version of how Tyson plays? Is that why you keep bringing him up?

Sakic is comfortably seated in the boss's chair. If OTT absolutely want their 1st rounder back, they will have to pay a king ransom. This pick is worth gold, especially because OTT may be the worst team in 2019 and that #1 prospect will be Jack Hugues. No way I give anything more. For me it would be like: You want the pick back? It's Karlsson with a contract extension agreement. Or it's Mark Stone plus the 22nd pick overall (from PIT). That's king ransom. Sakic doesn't have to move. In the worst case, OTT will choose to leave the 4th overall this year to close the Duchene deal immediately. Or it may be Jack Hugues next year :-)

Dont think he is going to be part of the Avs long term plans and if they can extend a much better Erik Karlsson, thats a huge upgrade on the blue line without sacrificing the offense that comes from Barrie.

Also you take the 5.5m for Barrie and put that towards Karlssons new contract. Makes sense long term

I get the EK love from every fanbase, but giving up that much for a player who is likely to go UFA next year doesn't really make sense. Avs seem like they are on a pretty good path, with lots of assets that can be deployed in the right trades when the time comes. This use of those assets just doesn't feel like it betters the organization long-term. I'm not feeling it, at all.

The idea was to more so keep hold of OTT's own 1st rounders. Knowing they're going to suck, OTT needs as many top 5 picks they can muster. An extension is assumed, I just forgot to put it in the details.
