one star for even suggesting that Marleau waives his mmc for buffalo and that buffalo would even accept that trade.

I like the way the lineup looks....but Calgary will likely decline giving up Tkachuk.

Buffalo can also get better deals for ROR...+ I think it's unlikely Marleau agrees to the trade. I would love to find a way for ROR to come to Toronto but I just don't think our teams match up well as trade partners.

I think all it would take is one trip to Tonawanda and he'd be sold.

Flames wouldn't give up Tkachuk, although it is an interesting proposal. Its not unfair, its just Tkachuk is considered untouchable.

really far off as others have suggested on the ROR trade but I'm just curious as to why Toronto fans have Nylander in so many trades I'm a Sens fan but the wife is a Leafs fan so I watch a decent amount throughout the season and one thing that is evident is the chemistry he has with Mathews. Why move that piece? Kid has a great offensive mind and sees the ice/always on the same page as Mathews that leads to a ton of scoring chances.

Why the Nylander trades. Well is one good young piece that the Leafs might willing to trade. Just don't think the Leafs can do it this summer though, as Nylander might be necessary at centre with Bozak, Plekance and Moore gone via UFA.. So IMO any trade that doesn't include a centre in return in kinda futile. And keeping trading a RHD which so many fans crave for, just creates a hole at centre, and yes it might help at RHD, so that's just a lateral move.

If you could only keep one, would you keep Marner or Nylander? I see how Nylander complements Mathews (granted I don't watch every game) but I feel like you could use Mitch as a trade chip and Keep Mathews/Kadri as your 1-2. Nylander on Mathews wing and Marner could fetch a pretty good RHD (although, still a lateral move that probably shouldn't be made)

Marner did play with Matthews and they played well together. Marner late in the season played right point on the PP and played well. I'll answer your question a little differently. Sign Marner long term. Why? To be he's an easier long term signing. He's a Toronto boy and the Leaf have been his only pro team. Nylander born in Calgary, lived throughout North America and Sweden. Played pro in Sweden and then played with Marlies and Leafs. I really think Nylander signs a short term deal with the Leafs this season. likely a two year bridge. To me he will be looking for early UFA and maybe cash in more $$$$ and with the team he wants to play with. (that just my opinion)
I'm not a believer in the classification of centre as 1-2. If Nylander players centre this year, the Leafs could have 3 pretty almost equally good lines. The Leafs would be better if Matthews, Kadri and Nylander were all centres And certainly Nylander and/or Kadri will see some PP time as a wing and be productive..

Marner easy... Nylander couldn't keep his stick in his hands in Game Seven against Boston and looked entirely unwilling to compete. Marner's creativity is special. If you have Mitch Marner you do not trade him.

I think Leaf fans are starting to realize that we likely can't have Matthews, Marner AND Nylander all signed to big deals...and still have room to add a big name defenceman + a legit 2/3 center (ie. Tavares or Carlson). There's some good young RHD that are on deals under $6m per...which is anticipated to be much cheaper than what Nylander will command....so a lot of rosters you see on here may have the leafs sign tavares and then trade Nylander for one of those d-men on a good deal.

Jury is still out on whether he can be a legit center...but the leafs would be wise to try him there...it could only serve to increase his value if he succeeds there...and if he doesn't...he still a great young winger.

Their seems to be too much fixation of adding a RHD from Leaf fans. I think Leafs have a good team up front but its not the best or so good they can afford to give up a young great forward like Nylander. Tampa Bay for example has much more firepower up front then Toronto. Leafs arn't there yet. They should just continue to draft and develop and try to improve at many positions instead of fixating on acquiring a RHD because that wont solve all their problems. Every NHL team wants a RHD. Their not easy to get but theirs no point in acquiring one just to leave a massive hole up front. Also its not just the blue line that needs work. Leafs could def use some better defensive forwards to help the D out.

Hard to disagree with this. More fun to make some deals when doing the Arm Chair GM thing but for the real world your approach is likely the smartest one for the Leafs to take at this point.
