The fact that Lou is in the org now does change my mind hahaha although Lindgren isn’t a bonified third string goalie... still young and developing and has definitely shown starting potential

Yes there is a difference but the Wings are looking to improve defense not take a forward, which they can take at 6. The 1st 4 picks will be 1 d and 3 forwards. That leaves several good defensemen to take this year and possibly a forward if one of the top 3 drop.
And I do not think they want to get rid of AA as you say, but want him to mature and play a whole hockey game not just an offensive game. I may not like the way they are doing it but I understand the reason.
Trading up for a forward and giving up a forward makes zero sense. Keep the pick and trade AA and the high 2nd or the Vegas for a player or to move up into the low 20s.

If you knew anything about hockey you’d realize goalies take a while to develop... also worth noting his play in the NHL is better than in the AHL
