Description
While all the attention is around Tavares, I think Montreal needs 2 centers, not only one and I believe they can get 2 good ones for the price of Tavares. I also think Domi has a lot to show, And Id be willing to see a small contract for Duclair to see them reunited. Pacioretty has to go, and will be a good trading value for a guy like O'reilly or Nugent Hopkins. I think with that in mind we would have lots of depth on all our 4 lines. Work could still be done defensively, but Overall this would be a very good looking and realistic Montreal trade

Cant you send Shaw with one of 4 2nd rounders to Winnipeg and retain 1.4 mil and get Mathieu Perreault and you dont need to sign Stastny to that contract and have MP85 to be your 2C?

That could definitely be a possibility, I don't foresee Winnipeg wanting to do that especially after the successful year they just had. But yea, that definitely sounds good.

Because there's not a chance Hawks take on that contract, nor do they need him at this point. Sikura is taking the #3RW.

My thinking in that deal would be that Perreault is taking much more of a cap space than 2.5mil Shaw. They could let their younger guys play higher and developing them right in the game (Vesalainen, Roslovic) with veterans while Perreault would provide neccesity for MTL at C. And he is french-canadien! grin Shaw on the other hand is great playoff performer and he might really be that one piece which would take WPG to another level.

Totally, Chicago was just thrown in there as an example, Hense why I made sure to state that it could be any other team. Basically I just don't see shaw in MTL's picture any more.

I agree, I'd love to see perreault for sure. At the end of the day, I've just been seeing lots of unrealistic trades out here, and Although all the talk is around Tavares, I still think that even with Tavares's acquisition , MTL would need one more center. So yea, I'd be happy with perreault or any other decent Center we could score a deal with for sure.

I don't see Chicago taking Shaw back, they need the cap space, but like you said, some other team could take him. That EDM trade though looks great. Addressing the needs for both teams!
And acquiring Perreault would also be a smart move again for both teams, because WPG needs to get rid off some of their contracts and Perreault is perfectly fine at playing as a center.

I really don't want Pacioretty, especially for Nuge, Pac only had 37 pts last year, that is just bad....

    Panties in a bunch?

On paper it’s fair value. Oilers still pass, 3 years of RNH for 1 year of Max who likely walks after 1 and they downgrade in draft to do it is not good business sense. But it’s Chiarelli so he’ll probsbly thrown in McDavid for Petry and calli it a day.

I think thats an unfair assessment, Pacioretty litterally score 30 to 39 goals and over 60 points consistently each season except last year which was a really bad year for MTL, He's been on the trade block for a while now and it definetely impacted him last season. I actually think Edmonton is really interested in Pacioretty... It's in my opinion a very plausible scenario.

A lot of details to that deal can move to the left or right but, Another option Montreal could do is a Sign and Trade deal, where they agree to a contract with Pacioretty and then trade him. Adds alot of value to Pacio knowing he wont be asking 9 million if he has a great year in edmonton.

Agreed, but until it happens you have to take the trade at face value. It’s Max for 1 year and the odds of him re-signing in EDM is pretty slim

So Duclair who was a third round pick himself and is now on his third team because hes underperforming is now worth a 2nd round pick?

Habs - Oilers trade is more realistic

Its not about what he was when he got drafted, but about his market value, and although he did not do great in the past few seasons, hes a 22 year old kid who's proven to have a great talent at the NHL level and I do think he has lots of potential. He's also not at his 3rd team for Underperforming, The New York trade to Arizona was simply a hockey transaction, he was not underperforming in New York, its expected that a 18-19 year old kid doesn't kill it right away and needs to be sent back down a few times for his development. He did very well in his first season in Arizona and then **** went downhill. Can you blame the guy for playing in Arizona? Anyways, I think that any team who wants rights to Duclair as we speak, will need to give 2nd rounder for him. Turnsout Montreal has 4, and I'm giving the highest second rounder, which is the last pick of the second round. It is in my opinion, very realistic.
