Wow, Kyle Connor is not a "middle 6" forward

he is a 21 yr old FIRST line elite winger that put up 36 goals and 57 points in his rookie season

Ya oil deal would take some fine tuning with possibly a young forward prospect and a pick going to edm and a defensive prospect coming back but that’s only complaint I got about this site is a little ai help to even out some deals iron the details a little and for det wpg does have some young defenseman to add in to possibly swing or maybe its a better deal with isles for 11 or 12 to help with caproom if tavares resigns

middle six forward lets really look at that. means second line guy. (kessel, Laine,) that is just two guys. it could be any second line guy in the league. this is not an insult to the player it doesn't fill detroits needs

his career stats are 96 games played nhl level 33 goals and 29 assists for 62 points. playoffs 17 games 3 goals 7 assists 10 points. that is a far cry from numbers you posted. https://www.nhl.com/player/kyle-connor-8478398

i see you edited and corrected your numbers. they are now correct for regular season and playoffs.

I also said the value is more than there doent fit detroits needs

to save cap i would dump mason maybe change trade with wings to petan, dano, and mason for there 2nd round pick still a good pick in a deep draft. then maybe find a taker for Perreault, who is a solid player just need money else where may be to flordia with a young nhl ready wing prospect. something along the lines of Armia and Perreault to panthers for 1st and a 3rd not exactly sure on value of Armia

Mason doesn’t bother me too much his money comes off the books when they need it too next summer would be nice to find proper value for little 5.2 6 years and pearrault 4.1 3years but I don’t think anybody lining up so kinda got to work around those deals at least you know the number and what u should get out of them I think Connor going to be solid contributor in this league but he did benefit from playing with scheifele and wheeler and he is probably the most valuable piece the jets have other than trouba to possibly move and I don’t like the trade off between Myers and trouba I much prefer trouba with morrisey over anything else the jets have so I came to the conclusion the two pieces I would move would be Myers and Connor with dano petan chiarot and morrow as random fillers and throw in top ups with a hope to get a couple top 12 picks or a single top 5 pick possibly so Phoenix det edm islanders phones would be ringing for sure would love to add top 6 muscle and greasy goal scorer and bottom pair dman sheriff and a little more muscle but probably don’t have the cap for either so hopefully a couple top 12 picks with minimal picks thrown in with players mentioned

Yeah sorry Detroit's not surrendering their #6 pick for Connor, Dano and Petan all 3 aren't worth the #6 pick. We can bring Connor home in a few years if he wants to not giving up the #6 pick for those 3 players.

Well, he did publicly announce that was the plan.

Why are we trading a rookie 30G scorer for a lottery pick? That's like gambling, but instead of gambling to win more, you're gambling to break even.

There are zero tough decisions to make in the 2018 or 2019 offseason. We have a group of core young players we need to resign, a group of older players we need to trade, a group of prospects who have been putting up ridiculous numbers in Liiga, NCAA, and CHL to take their places, and a group of B-C prospects we can trade to teams with bad prospect depth to smooth over the trading of our older overpaid players. Perrault, Myers, Kulikov all go before any of our young talent. If that somehow doesn't work in clearing enough cap (and it will) then you bite the bullet, let Wheeler walk and hope Vesalainen can live up to the hype. You don't trade players that will be +30G scorers for the next decade.

fans that believe what coaches, managers or players say publicly also believe in the fairy tooth. trouba is negotiating in public with any statements. good for the jets and trouba if he signs long term, but he is now on course for two years of arbitration and then UFA.

Trouba lost millions of dollars in holding out, and the direct consequences of that decision. Arbitration would do something similar on a smaller scale to him again. He's 24 turning 25 and his window for a massive 8 year front-loaded contract is running out. Anyone who's ever taken a basic accounting class or glanced at the contracts section of the CBA would tell you the best way to make the most money is to get as much capital as possible, as early as possible, maximize the time-value of money, and then try and do that again on a smaller scale one more time in your career. An arbitration contract takes him up to 26 or 27 and the likelihood of ever getting that one massive signing bonus goes down let alone ever getting two.

Jets have a wealthy enough ownership group that is willing to part with their money, that they could give him a contract which puts 30+mill in his bank account over the next four years at a 6mill cap hit, or put a scaled version of the number in his bank account over the next three and give him a shot at a similar contract when he reaches his early 30's.

I wasn't doubting the Jets ownership paying him fairly. It's more Trouba desire of wanting to be a UFA. Who knows what he really wants? He just might be "in for a penny, in for a pound," if he continues to want short term contracts.

I think trouba wants the exact years to free agency a 6 mil per and the jets want a few extra years past free agency for the extra dough which is the sticking point so jets probably offer up 3 years 4 million per or a 5 or 6 years at 6 million type deal stuck somewhere in the middle
