Problem: The Sabres' goaltending is not addressed. Lehner should not quality for an offer. The Sabres should not offer him one-year, $4,000,000 to bum out in goal.
1. The Hoffman trade is fair enough value I think, though with the current anti-Hoffman sentiment that pick can definitely be lottery protected.
2. That Montreal trade is off value by a ton. Shaw and the rights to Rychel aren't worth much in this trade, but Scandella has almost no value to Montreal so isn't worth much in this trade either. Scandella would be at best Montreal's 4D. Weber and Petry are better than him, and Reilly put up similar possession numbers while recording .32pts/game to Scandella's .27pts/game. Reilly is also more than 3 years younger. Plus, Montreal management has to bank on Mete taking a step forward and Alzner getting back to somewhere closer to his normal.
Fair value for ROR approx. 7thOA, depending on the strength of the draft. This is based of the Stepan trade. Stepan has better offensive numbers over the course of his career, .7 to .65 pts/game, and better career possession numbers across the board although ROR does starts in his own zone far more. Overall, Stepan is the best comparable, Raanta and DeAngelo are basically a wash in that trade, though you could maybe argue a pick in either direction depending on how you see them.
Then you add Pacioretty on top of that, he is a proven 30 goal scorer who's bad season still had him on a 20 goal pace, not exactly negative value.
TL;dr 3rdOA>ROR, Scandella doesn't make the difference, Montreal declines easily.
3. The Vancouver trade looks like almost a wash without the pick, it could probably be done with a 6th or 7th.
4. Montreal trade doesn't happen so this doesn't happen, and Ottawa doesn't pay a 1st to move 4th to 3rd anyway.
