I really really really don’t like the first trade. It is an overpayment by a country mile, but I’m not gonna rate it down. MTL trade looks like a possible move for sure.

I think you can take Hillman and Hayden out of the Carolina trade, it's a bad look to trade Hillman after just signing him. That might scare off other College signees. MTL trade is very intriguing. My big question though, will Galchenyuk be a good fit in Q's 200 foot system of play? Q loves having 200 foot players if you look at some of the most important players in the past few years. Toews, Vermette, Sharp, Hossa, Saad (In 13 and 15 cup runs), Richards, Handzus, Shaw, Ladd.

It's not really overpayment when you consider the Canes are going to have to keep 50% of Darlings contract for 3 more years. Also, Hillman or another D prospect is needed to keep them from demanding the #8 pick overall. Plus they are taking on a contract in Murphy that in my opinion is a huge overpayment for an underwhelming player.
