I don’t believe Carolina is going to want veteran goalie in package and hanifin will want to be paid higher than 5th on defenseman pay scale but good things are coming fast in jersey

Schneider would be the goalie to start the new "culture change" for CAR.
Hanifin is a 21-year old RFA so he doesn't have much say and $4M is more than fair.
Lovejoy could be a veteran, Stanley cup winning, 3rd liner for the young defensive core CAR has.
JQ fits well too.
CAR would end up with pick # 2, 26, & 39..... not a bad start for a rebuild with Schneider in net.

Depending on how keen owner wants to buy out current goalie and lovejoy value is mediocre at best quennville could be top 9 opening night depending on trades and buyouts 26 pick is worth more than quenville and lovejoy worth a 4th rounder at best I wouldn’t make the deal unless there’s a rush on rebuild and to be mediocre during I would rather make hanifin happy in Carolina and keep a sieve in net to have a few years of lottery

i agree i cant see Carolina doing this. yes they need a goalie but i see them chasing something that costs less or maybe signing hutton or bernier as a stop gap for now.

imo hanifin should only be traded for a top 7 draft pick

I'm actually not opposed to this deal for Carolina... Fixes the goalie issue, and gives them three picks in the top 40. They still need a top-6 center, but this works well imho
