I'm boring myself making the same comment over and over, but everybody seems to be making the same assumption and it's driving me crazy.

Why would you, Blues' brass, or anyone, believe that Robby Fabbri is going to be ready to step in and play first line minutes? How much hockey has he actually played in the last two years?

Assuming his knees are fully recovered and his skating is at least 70% of what it was pre-injury, perhaps he's able to play. But you expect him noy to have lost a step? For his timing to be up to speed? For his vision and playmaking to not be rusty? His shot to be accurate? Why would we think this?

I like the kid, and there is no questioning his talent. I'm rooting for him to work his way back into the lineup and surprise us all. I would prefer to be 100% wrong in this post, and he comes back hungry enough to lead us to Lord Stanley's Cup. But wishful thinking aside, let's plan for the worst and hope for the best.

I don't think Fabbri starts the season in StL, and I don't see him playing 1st line minutes this year. I don't think the Blues are expecting that, either.

Which is why I hope, and expect, a trade for a top 6 with the flexibility to play C and LW. A Hoffman, or a Draisatl. And a move like that won't be cheap.

I like this, but Doug Armstrong has to keep Edmundson under 4 million. Eddie is great, but he’s not getting the same contract as Matthias Ekholm.

I'm beyond tired of Blues fans jumping on the Berglund must be traded bandwagon. 1/5.

Go spend 2 minutes comparing the leagues 3Cs and their contracts.

The whole point of trading him is to create cap space for John Tavares. I don't really have a problem with him playing 3c, we just need a 1/2 center. I think R. Thomas is ready to fill that 3c spot if we offload him.

I hope Armstrong does, I just did 4 million as what I saw as the max he would get.

I think everyone has reservations on if Fabbri will even be in the lineup at the start of the season. I just put him there as a filler/hope that he can get there by the end of the season. You'd use Steen on that line(not my favorite option) then and have Barbie as #3 lw.

Fine.

Then go list a few 3Cs stats around the league, go find a few more that have been acquired or signed, and tell me that Berglund is worth a ******* 3rd with a 4th coming back.

Hanzal went for a 1st and a 2nd, then signed for 1 mil more for longer than Berg at the same age, has much less performance than Berg, and you think Berg is worth a 3rd with a 4th coming back.

Lol dude I think you're focusing too much on that trade. Sure get a higher pick for him and eliminate the 4th round pick. The point is to clear cap space for John Tavares. If giving up a solid 3c to clear space for a 1c has to happen then that's what needs to happen. I'd gladly sacrifice Bergie everyday if it meant a solid offer for Tavares. We have Thomas that could slot in there. You can resign Brodz and he could be serviceable in that position. You can slot Barbie in there (still needs to prove himself). As long as that trade with Berg involves picks it doesn't matter to me which round those picks are when we have options to replace him.

Ok so

If Hanzal

Who's stats are worse in ... essentially all ways

Returns a 1st AND a 2nd

And then signs as a UFA for 1 mil AAV more than Berglund AND longer term.

How in the holy hell is Berglund worth half a 3rd.

They're the same age.

You telling me better and cheaper is worth less?

Not just less, but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less.

Get off the facebook forums.

Haha that was at the trade deadline. Anyhow seeing as you stuck on this still I will reiterate that if having a legit shot at getting Tavares means moving Bergs cap hit you do that all day. If we can get a 1st and 2nd round pick out of trading Berg then great do it we can replace him. My point is you need to create cap space for Tavares if you don’t get that then by all means keep posting about Bergs worth.
