so why do the hawks barely get anything on top of giving up a #8pick to ottawa when ottawa flips everyone for faulk, rask and another 1st? looool. hawks can just trade that to carolina and get away better offer. nice try though.

Ottawa is taking on Hossa's contract for the next 3 years and Chicago gets Hoffman and Ceci.
That's why Ottawa gets a 1st from Chicago.
Hossa's contract is meaningless, except for the fact that Melnyk looks like he's paying a lot, when he's actually only paying about a million dollars. There is absolutely no use for Chicago to offload it, considering it's chaep and can be LTIRed for no cap hit.

the hawks don't even need to get rid of his contract. its called LTIR. if you really think getting rid of hossa to any team that can just put him in LTIR for a #8 pick is fair, you are out of your mind. hawks don't even have to give a 1st rounder at all to get rid of it. his contract is very valuable for a team looking to get to the cap floor.
