Winnipeg is fine with what they have, they need wingers and not more centers

No player would ...that's why these hypothetical are so much fun.
Having said that...JT would look at the Winnipeg roster and still think it's one of the best possible chance to win a Cup even without Laine.

Ehlers- Scheif- Wheeler

Really Chezy?

Why would WPG do this? Laine isn't a superstar playoff performer in his first real taste of playoff hockey and he's being considered for trade now? Damn!

If that's the case:

Trade Greiss for MAF
Trade Boychuk + 2020 1st for Karlsson (50% retained)
Might as well trade Ladd back to WPG and get Trouba
Trade Eberle back to EDM for McDavid (50% retained)

I'm just throwing up hypotheticals....not advocating for this trade. This trade has nothing to do with Laine's playoff performance. However, adding Tavares would put us in the same class as Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin at center. We'd be a better team long term with Tavares (having said that I love Laine).

laine's playoff performance? Laine has twice as playoff rounds wins as Tavares. two to one. yes, I know it isn't Tavares fault. but wouldn't the jets be far better off just signing Tavares (if only for 7 years) and then peddle Laine and Little for assets these sign and trades for full value just don't seem productive. be surprised if Tavares leaves the east coast.

I mean ok fair enough, but then why not just sign Tavares as a UFA? Your title says if Tavares doesn't want to resign with the Isles.

Losing Laine to add Tavares is pointless IMO. The benefit of having a solid center core is defeated by the loss one of the games best goal scorers, who will be better for longer than Tavares will. Given the age gap.

Fair enough its a hypothetical idea but its counter intuitive at the core. For WPG of course which is the perspective of this AGM. From the NYI perspective......YEEEEHAWWWW!!

Ha...way too much deep thought being put into off the wall hypothetical situations that have zero chance at happening wink

My description stated a hypothetical situation that Tavares didn't want ot re-sign BUT gave the NYI an agreement to do a sign and trade to save face with the organization that he has called home.
Again, don't overthink it....just having fun wink
