i cant see Carolina wanting anything to do with patches unless they mean to flip him at the trade deadline

Carolina is probably going into win now mode with a new GM, I can understand a rebuilding team not wanting him but a 30 goal scorer can help anyteam

I think Carolina would do this, we need another leader in the locker room like patches, JWill is the man but he could use some help from outside the organization. Look at what TB did collecting all the captains they could find, it's a good strategy imo. Also I like any trade that gets us Svech and Zadina to go with our young core.

I agree also I think it’s pretty fair... Roy and Bean are equal to first round picks each but Zadina is a better prospect than both and patioretty still has 1st round value... Byron and Shaw can both be flipped for 2nds each too

I'm sorry, why is montreal giving up a 30 goal scorer, a 20 goal scorer and a top 4 pick here?

First off, LOL.

Maybe you could trade both for pacioretty alone, but adding byron and 4th overall is hilarious

Yes, waaaay too much to give up. Take out the first and it could be a good deal, Roy is a big centre prospect with good potential but is not a sure bet. Zadina has a much higher ceiling.

I agree that Montreal is giving up too much, but if you want Bean (or any of the Canes Dmen), it'll take more than one year of Pacioretty.

It's going to be a very funny when you guys realize that you're not getting multiple first rounders for him, and that Bergevin missed the boat on trading him...

Hell No!!! The Habs deserve never to win again if they made such a dumb trade: three NHLers and a ultra-high for two prospects — Bean is #36 in the THN top 100 and the jury is still out on him, and Roy doesn't even rank. ?!!!

wait....so you are proposing a trade of a 5x 30 goal scorer that is 29 years old, the #3 pick, and a top 9 forward for.....2 players that haven't even played an NHL game yet? awesome face

I'm not a fan of either team, but this is brutally lopsided. It would take at least Bean + Roy to get the 3rd overall pick, far less adding in Pacioretty, Byron, and Shaw with half his salary retained.

Roy is not equal to a first round pick. He's a 21 year old, 4th rounder, who put up barely half a point per game in the AHL last year. He's got upside as a 2nd or 3rd liner, and that's if he pans out perfectly.

Jake Bean has been a very good offensive dman in juniors, but there have been serious questions about his ability to play defense well enough to be consistently in the NHL.

Bean straight up would probably net you the year of Pacioretty/the ability to flip him again for a 1st+ at the deadline.
