Description
i'm sure the penguins will give Riikola the chance to start right away, i'm interested, i don't know much about him but from what i hear he is a solid defensemen| DEPTH SIGNINGS ; Stewart brings size, speed , and grit to the 4th line. Sbisa is coming off a season which he rarely played due to injury, he might be able to be had cheap. and will give the pens the depth they were lacking this year

Let me be very clear here, Botterill is very familiar with Connor Sheary and Beaulieu. He knows that Sheary plays about 66% of the time with either Crosby or Kessel so his stats are greatly inflated and yet playing with line mates who scored tallied 63 goals, he only managed to earn 12 assists, I do not see Jason trading any assets for Connor.

you must not watch penguins games because sheary hasn't been crosby's linemate for a long time. or genos. he plays 3rd/4th line. guentzel is crosbys LW

Crosby played 509 min at 5v5 with Sheary, and 746 min without him. Sheary played over half of his even strength minutes with Crosby this year... and his with-or-without-you chart shows that he's getting a huge boost from Crosby.

i bet those 509 mins were at the beginning of the season because guentzel has been on sids line for a while. sheary would sometimes see time on his line if sully made line changes mid game. no one said that he wasn't getting a boost from playing on sids wing that's obvious.. and obviously he's not gonna put up huge numbers in the bottom 6 either . he's a complimentary player, the type you should put around stars to get the best out of guys like sheary

this chart https://hockeyviz.com/fixedImg/playerOverview/1718/PIT/shearco92/wrap shows the linemates on the top chart. Looks like he was playing RW with Crosby and Guentzal when he wasn't playing LW with Crosby and Hornqvist, and then after Brassard was acquired Sheary played more with Brass or Sheahan.

I'm just pointing this out so the facts aren't skewed. I think asking for a 4th and a 6/7th d-man like Beaulieu for Sheary is perfectly fine and I agree, he's a good complementary player.

Your facts are sound. Sheary has proven that he is largely only successful when on a line with Crosby. Away from Crosby, he does not produce, and worse, he isn't very good away from the puck either. Pretty one dimensional player, streaky player.

Thank you very much. It is really hard to dispute facts but as you both discovered many people still do just that. IMO I would rather have Beaulieu as my 6th/7th defenseman because I have 9 or 10 3rd/4th line forwards and do not need one who is paid $3,000,000 a year. But really 12 assists when 63% of your ice time is with Kessel or Crosby, was he standing still or just not passing the puck well?
