I think MTL is giving up too much in this deal.
#3, Sherbek(MTL has been patient with him and I dont think they should be trading him now), and our really only actual center(Danault) for RNH, Jones(wont be NHL ready for 2-3 years), and the 10th.
So it's:
- 3rd for the 10th and Jones(long term prospect)
- Danault and Sherbek for RNH?(that doesn't seem fair to Edmonton)
Doesnt really make sense for MTL or Edmonton to do that as posted above, MTL moves an NHL to gain a center then are still stuck with a 1 actual center. YES RNH is better but this still doesnt address the Center depth that is MTLs real problem.
Too me this is a win for Edmonton as they lose a center(which they have lots of), but gain a good 3rd line center and a highly skilled Winger with the 3rd, plus a highly skilled developed Winger in Scherbek(could work out being a good scorer or could be in the KHL in 2 seasons) and MTL gains a 1/2 Center, a long term D prospect, and who knows with a 10th overall pick(probably Ty Smith or that Finnish C, both are a few years away from making an impact)
