From an Isles perspective I think that's way too much. Maybe 2 of those pieces go.

For the millionth time.. goalies are the least expensive position in hockey!!!! No way isles even entertain that deal. Caps would be LUCKY if they could get a single first round pick out of holtby. There’s such a surplus and not enough demand

I think take out Pulock and add Bowey and perhaps. As another user mentioned, lots of places to look for goalies.

You’re talking about a top 3 goalie in the NHL

I'm excited that they signed Samsonov, too, but I'm not ruling out the chance he plays a year in Hershey to learn the language, the culture, and the narrow rink.

I get totally annoyed when fans of other teams post builds where they trade the Caps someone expensive and not as good as Carlson, and then sign Carlson with the cap space they created, so I assume Isles fans are just too polite to tell you what they're thinking.

      https://novacapsfans.com/2018/05/04/capitals-sign-goaltender-ilya-samsonov-to-three-year-entry-level-contract/

Yes, the team above is good, but teams rarely trade NHL ready #1 picks they've signed and developed and are all set to debut. Like, the Caps did that to get Jagr after he led the league in scoring.

You could certianly get two first round picks or Parayko for Kuznetsov, but not likely two developed, signed, ready for prime time recent first round picks plus Parayko for just Kuznetsov.

Is Kuznetsov better than all of them. Yes. He's about as good as Tavares, and cheaper, so just keep him and sign Tavares and Carlson, like every other team would like to, if they both want to come play with Ovechkin and win a Cup together. Or try the harder puzzle of building a long term winner without most of the answer being deus ex machina.

He’s not top 3. He’s had the benefit of playing for a super team. Anyways he’s certainly not worth that package

Name a list of teams that would actually be interested in holtby:
-St. Louis (maybe but probably not?)
      -NYI (if Tavares resigns)
-buffalo (if the price is right)
That’s all that comes to mind. There isn’t a high demand for goalies right now. And there’s a surplus of goalies. Therefore value = lower

Sure no doubt, the value is lower with lower demand, but so low that a team won't pay a 1st rounder for one of the best goalies in the league? That just doesn't make sense. Just look at the Raanta trade last year. Look at a team like Ottawa. You're telling me they wouldn't trade their PIT 1st rounder for Holtby?

Yeah I would say a first round pick is the asking price but not a first plus a top prospect plus a roster player etc...
