Not sure on the overall value of the trade, but I like the idea. Hanifin would be a great fit for the Wings.

I think there’s way too much going on in this trade to simply unite the Svechnikov brothers. It would most likely have to be equivalent prospect swaps. Maybe Wallmark or Saarela for Evgeny, straight up. CAR might add a sweetener like Krüger (with Sal Ret) or DiGuiseppi (former Mich Wolverine) because they are initiating the deal.

I'll admit this isn't the Wings being generous to the Svech brothers, this is a desperate attempt to get Hanifin. If those two must be involved in the trade, how would you structure it? Mantha and Larkin are untouchable, with Rasmussen, Bertuzzi, Cholowski, Hronek, and 6th overall right behind them.

That’s just it, I don’t think it gets done. You either have to have a value for value trade on that level (Seth Jone/RyJo) or it probably doesn’t work, because he’s just as off limits as your guys and isn’t being shopped. It’s gotta fill high end needs for both teams.

Very fair. I know the Wings don't have that caliber player besides Larkin or Mantha in their system, but I was hoping Athanasiou's value as a center and Geno's value even besides his relation to Andrei would be enough. Plus adding our third best defensive prospect and taking Kruger's contract. Oh well. I understand trades don't actually work like that. 1+1+1+1+1 doesn't always equal 5.

I’ve looked at DET scenarios considering Faulk but it was just difficult to make it work without touching those two. Maybe something with AA and ES maybe get a conversation started but I think they’d be looking for a high end center coming back.

Do you even understand what Andrei Svechnikov said? He said that he wanted to play in Detroit and only Detroit with his brother Evgeny. And nowhere else Evgeny isn't getting moved period and this doesn't come close to getting us Noah Hanifin and Hanifin will get closer to $5.5 million then $4 million.
