Description
Moving up to 5 if first 4 taken are Dahlin, Svech, Zadina, Tkachuk
Draft Pick Trade was taken from Shuckers Draft Pick Value Chart
(5th OVR = 741 11th, 41st, 134th = 825) Added a lot more 'value' so I didn't get ripped

Hanifin: Tried something different. Gave the Hurricanes scoring which they're in desperate need for. Isles have a plethora of bad contracts so in an attempt to ease the cap constraints this team has I also bundled Boychuk (who gives them veteran leadership and solid top 4 play) along with a prospect who I believe just needs a change of scenery and 12th overall. Carolina is going into next year with the 2nd least amount of cap so they have tons of room, I just wanna know if the trade looks fair. Maybe add Nelson if needed? He scores but I'm not sure if the Canes want another 2/3rd line center.

Team still has scoring threats across 3 lines and the top 4 is immediately upgraded.

Yeah I don't think they'd pass up on Boqvist if he falls to 5 cause it's an immediate team need, just all hypothetical

Even if the Yotes say no, make a similar offer to Vancouver for the 6th overall. Bouchard's big body and booming shot is arguably a better fit with NYI.

You could put a numerical "Value" on each draft pick all day, but there is an intangible value to a high pick, which is "the player we take could turn out to be a franchise player" and you will find that makes pick in the top 5 incredibly hard to acquire

The Red Wings have 6th, Vancouver has 7th.

Of course you can, that 5th pick could also turn out to be a complete bust. Isles traded out of the 5th pick in 2008 because they didn't think Nikita Filatov was going to live up to the hype, which he didn't. The value sheet was based off previous drafts and how players ended up performing at those picks. It's obviously not always right but I just used it as a basis because when it really comes down to it the team makes the price. Maybe that 5th pick is immovable to the Yotes, maybe they want to drop down and add picks

Have a better chance trading up to Montreal's spot. They can take Veleno with that pick.

Sure, but in a draft where there isnt much of a drop off until around picks 8-9, its highly unlikely the player picked at 5 will not live up to the hype. Especially when moving down to 11th in a draft where there is a major drop off of talent outside the top 8. The player picked at 5 will be a contributor for their team. And i would say that goes for most years. Im not knocking the method you used, i'm just trying to say that teams don't think like that, and would be very hesitant to trade a top 5 pick, especially when the trade moves them outside the top 10.
