Assuming NSH wouldn't give up Josi a LHD and wanted a RHD for RHD trade, a deal around this layout should have occurred

    Subban isnt worth an Ellis
you'd still be stuck with Weber but even still the yield is more then MB got and a better deal

There's a reason Bergevin got what Bergevin got. There weren't a whole lot of teams in the NHL offering a whole lot for a primadonna with a giant contract and a no-trade about to kick in. MB's greatest sin was not trading Subban in the hours after he won the Norris, though I suspect there were still only a few teams willing to risk having him.

Well he souldn't have traded him for Weber thats for sure.
I would liked it better if he gave the Oilers Subban for Hall. Im sure the Oilers would have done that deal.

But imagine our defence without Weber... Even if we then kept Sergachev

The Oilers weren't at all interested, both for cap and chemistry reasons. Say what you will about Bergevin, but he took a toxic asset (bad contract and lousy team rep going back to Belleville and before) and got what he could. There was not a long line of people offering all-star defencemen in return.

It's reasonable to say that Subban should have been traded for a basket of prospects and picks, but that probably wouldn't have satisfied the masses either.
