Byron is fine, but Greer and a 2nd rounder is way way too much for a guy who would be a 29 year old 1 year out from UFA tweener 3rd line winger.
Avs are keeping it young and Greer is one of the fiesty physical winger prospects they have. No need for another small only offensive winger. They have andrighetto for that role and pretty happy with that

I get what you are saying in terms of value and you might not be far off, but just IMO to address the Avs needs, Greer for Bryon just doesnt quite fit their current needs.
Hes a good player, fast as heck...but Avs need bigger stud to add to the Top 9 (probably in UFA like a guy like Neal or JVR if he hits market) as well as peskier more physical bottom 6 guys who can still skate.

Greer mucks it up and he is probably going to be fighting for a job next year. Would rather role the dice with him in the line up as a depth guy and keep the 2nd round pick

A complete rebuild would probably take around 5 years and I am not sure how patient Habs fan will be trusting in such a process, not to mention they have an all-world goaltender they just re-signed this last offseason and who will be left stuck through all of this pain(ful rebuilding). I hope the Habs take their time and do things right, but as a Leafs fan I would love to see them pull what a Sabres and get stuck in rebuild limbo. Also, there is no way the Leafs would make that deal for Shea Weber.
