Is that enough for Tyler Johnson?

Agreed, not sure it is enough. But I have been saying this ever since the Shattenkirk trade rumors were around that TJ would be a perfect center for the Blues to target. Especially now that Tampa is closer to having to extend Kucherov.

Maybe make Schmaltz a better prospect and or add another 3rd or 4th.

What would It Cost for Tyler Johnson? I know Tampa is in cap trouble and may want to move him

Agreed. Johnson would be a good fit in St.Louis. I definetly dont want to trade Thomas or Kyrou.

The 1st and Kostin is a solid start, they would probably want a better prospect than Schmaltz maybe a Barbashev or someone NHL ready with some upside.
Or even Berglund/Sobotka if they see any value in a 3c.

What about Fabbri, Kostin + 2019 1st? for 6y Johnson at a controlled cost?

Johnson for 1st, kostin and sobotka/berglund seems like a lot. Tampa would probably want a defense man in return. What about Johnson for a 1st, kostin and gunnarsson?

STL is paying too much in that trade

Also makes sense value wise, but I think with McDonough still there for a year Hedman Sergachev and Foote coming up they may not have room for a Gunnerson.

Agreed. I might consider paying that much if we were getting TJ at $5m for his age 24-30 yrs but not his 28-34 yrs. We've seen the youth take over his spot in TBL, we'd probably see the same thing in STL (if all goes as planned neutral)

Than if you don't think he could shine in STL for at least 4-5years... why trading for him?
Still a better deal than Statsny @ 7M a year IMO!

I like that trade - it’s fair value to me - but Tampa might want to throw in Callahan/Coburn to clear out more space

Well he's not useless, he's just not worth Fabbri and Kostin and a 1st round pick at this point in his career - he's probably worth what is in the original trade.

Leave Pauly out of this! We had to pay a premium for Stastny as a UFA but we did it without blowing other assets, and we got him up to age 32, not 34 - a slight difference, but significant IMO.

Not sure if teams would be interested in callahan/coburn unless salary was retained. Thanks for liking the trade!

It's all opinion, but I would think the Lightning would accept even less than the original trade because starting July 1st he gets a NTC, and with the players Tampa has to resign, I think he's one guy they can afford to move, so they would be okay with a less than expected return. If St. Louis has to pay the original price, I just don't see what good that does them. He's good, but that seems like a lot to give up.

St.Louis is in need of a top 6 center. If Johnson is playing with Tarasenko, he could easily get 60 points. Blues have a lot of good prospects so they can afford to move one. if Lightning are willing to trade for less that is good news though

Tyler Johnson put up 72 points 3 years ago. I think if Tampa would take Berglund/Sobotka + Kostin + 1st then we should definitely do it. Especially if he can take on a 1C type role or a 1A/1B with Schenn, $5mill would be solid for that.

Agreed and he has been a great playoff performer. He can play center and be a nice 1/2 line center and if STL gets lucky and lands a Tavares or a better center in the future Johnson can also play wing.
He would be a more established and proven Fabbri/Kyrou, a small speedy scoring winger.
