But they do get younger with 2 top 15 picks in this year draft

This all depends on the draft lottery. If MTL is in the top 5 it’s a no go, but if MTL ends up 7th with Calgary’s and Islanders picks between 9-13 then I can see it happening.

I don't agree: Mtl will probably end with No#4or5 pick (Tkatchuck or Boqvist) I am not too high on them...
That's where I would play this pick against 2 higher one!

Thanks... I think the 2020 1st becomes a deal breaker... as none worth 3st round pick... it is just too scary on paper!
Remove MTL 2018-2nd with 2020- 1st and I'm on it :-)

I was working on the idea that the 1-for-2 picks in 2018 works. That leaves Pacioretty for Nelson and the 2020 pick. And I did McCarron and a second for Ladd (with his painful cap hit). Where does it break down for you, Dom?

as a GM reading in 5 years that I gave 3x great1st rounder for Pacioretty + a slightly higher 1st seems big on paper! probably fair in a total value but still 3 first pick outcHHH

I am assuming that since Pacioretty and Tavares are still with the Islanders, that 2020 pick is likely to be 20+.
