He would be in Deboer's doghouse almost immediately though. We play a multi-tier complicated neutral zone defensive system that Drouin would not enjoy. In the offensive zone, he would probably be happy, but ............
on the other hand, this is not Tampa. If he complained about backchecking and getting grief over his effort, Thornton would beat some sense into him. Stamkos makes as many, if not more mistakes than Drouin, so he is not exactly leading by example. Drouin had such a short leash while the leaders in front of him made way more mistakes and got a longer leash that he cried foul.
Mind you, it is tremendously immature how he is going about it. Thornton went through the same and soldiered through until he broke out
