Description
NSH needs to sign Saros, Hartman this yr, Fiala next yr, Josi yr after that. So they get a young D in Benning and a top 8 draft pick.

Not sure what OTT fans think of the Hoffman/Ceci trade.

Risky move by EDM, but Ellis is legit top pair D and elite PP guy. Would have to sweet talk the heck out of Ellis to sign, but 97 factor helps a lot.

Nice. I think you still need to do something about the goaltending situation in order to consider the Oilers "fixed"... and you could be $2.5M over cap.

I think Talbot can bounce back, its a gamble for sure. Also, I used "fixing" more so in a way that refers to how the team is built. Focused more on speed and skill which is what the league is moving toward. Without giving up size. Minus Nurse. But Oilers need a Dman who can run a PP and has a big shot more than a big defenceman

I think so too, but I don't trust Montoya with the backup job. There are several good backups available through free agency this summer, they wouldn't be too costly either.

Also, I don't see how Washington keeps both Carlsson and Holtby, but whichever one shakes loose would be of interest to Edmonton, I would think. Pursuing Holtby would mean trading Talbot, of course, and I probably wouldn't do it unless the cost of Holtby was close to the receipt from Talbot, but it's an interesting idea.

You do well enough meeting the needs of the team however, Ellis is only making 2.5 million and will want a huge upgrade trouble is you have to sign Talbot as well that year and pulj. Hoffman after that will need to be signed and he will want 7-8 million. The ceci trade is good he has a manageable cap hit which is what you need. Dont know why you trade strome since hes a great third line scorer, he can get you 30-40 points easy and will only cost around 2.5, youre selling him short.

I have time for Holtby. I wonder is WSH would be interested in a Talbot for Holtby swap, with a 1st from the Oilers going the other way. Gruabuer+Talbot would be a solid tandem while giving Samsonov another development year.

Yea i mentioned a possible 7x7 extension for Ellis, where in that off-season the Russel and Sekera contacts both become movable (must submit trade lists). I think Pulj will come in at around 2.5-3M on a bridge deal. Hoffman still has 2 years and a lot of unknowns with the Cap until then. Also Strome was essentially a cap dump. (Someone had to go...wish it was Lucic)

ellis is the 4th best d on nashville, probably wont sign here, and is going to cost 7M+ if he did. brodziak isnt a 3C and Cody CeCe sucks at hockey.

Who is the third best? Ekholm? I dont think so. Not a bad thing to be the third best Dman on a team with Subban and Josi..... But according to your logic Edm can trade Lucic for Erik Karlsson then. He'd waive his NMC to go there since it's closer to NYC.........

If Hoffman wants $7-8M he can walk. He's not worth that.

You're right that Strome is worth much more than a 5th round pick.

Agreed about Hoffman. Youre still getting 2 servicable years in his prime. Strome was just a cap dump, Im not against keeping him, and getting something of better value back. Maybe a 2nd then?

For one season? wouldnt be a big deal for one year. After next year you could trade Russel or Sekera or both when they have to provide trade lists.

Ekholm is the better defenseman, even though ellis is having a career season, u never buy high. its not a bad thing that hes 4th best, hes just not a #1 dman and shouldnt be paid like one. idk what ur talking about with lucic because i didnt bring him up, but id like to tell you that is by far the dumbest response ive ever read to a comment in my life.

russell sucks. cece sucks. you have them on ur 3rd pair eating cap space that should be spent literally everywhere else because the team u built isnt a good on. need to fix 3C, 3RW, 4RW, 4LW, 5D, 6D, and 2G. so its a bit of a big deal when u have ur 3rd pair making 8M for 3 more years when they both suck
