Not sure why you like to give away Connolly (a guy who can score and plays well with Eller and is relatively cheap) plus the best backup in the league for a depth center...when you don't need a 5th center with bringing up Boyd or bringing back Beagle on a value deal...kinda a waste of resources.

Overpayments to build cap space and end up with five forward lines, five defensive pairs, and three goalies, all under the salary cap? Are you saying the Caps don't need to make many deals for cap space? Or just trying to plot out a future depth chart? You think Geisser starts ahead of Johansen or Siegenthaler? He's got size... but they all have pro experience. That'd be a bit of a surprise out of camp.

I wouldn't give a 2nd pick for cap space and then not sign anyone new with it. I mean, if you cut eight guys, you might have enough space here to sign Kovalchuk, and then we can shrug off the overpayments. But otherwise trading Orpik leaves enough room to keep Grubauer and Connolly.

DSP might not stay for less than a QO, and Connolly doesn't have his toughness, but scores more goals.

I mean, compared to earlier trades of Kyrou and other amateurs for Backstrom and Holtby, I have to say that Grubauer and Connolly is almost a relief. But on its own, it seems a little ridiculous.

I’m a big fan of getting Kyrou. That deal should get you more than Kyrou. In my opinion Gruby and Samsonov can hold down the fort. Why not trade holtby+Connolly for Allen+Kyrou+Dunn/Fabbri then flip Jake Allen to Ottawa in a trade for Karlsson? That’s something I’d entertain

That being said I think you need to move Oshie to the third line with eller. For Kyrou to flourish and develop nicely he needs to be with Kuzy or Backstrom

I also love the idea of Martin and Wilson on the same team. Just don’t like Martin’s contract

bc is good but their isnt any room for him on this current roster esp on the 4th line........Kyrou can help caps with center or rw depth........ grub is great but hes 26 and samsonov is the future and whos to say grub struggles as a full time starter?

i just have all the d man to show depth.....obviously caps wont have all these guys on the opening day roster

netminder.......grub value is a 2nd connelly value is a 3rd......id rather take the player who imo will be worth more than that...............

also connelly is having a tj oshie 2016-17 shooting % year thats completely unrealistic to think he can redo that next season......sell high on that guy

also boyd might struggle we can move him to rw have Kyrou play center. this leaves many options caps can do with the bottom 6

No I know. Teams would fear us. Notice how I said team not line. Wilson is a top line guy with Ovi for the rest of the time Ovi is here
