I didn't want to get into trades but I think the Sharks probably move one of Goodrow, Karlsson, Sorensen in this scenario. Also, I'd like to think the Sharks sign O'Regan to a 2 way contract and send him down to the AHL. Either way if the cap does truly go to 80mil then it fits this way. The singing of Jumbo is kind of a shot in the dark too. No idea what his injury does to his chances of playing, let alone signing with other teams and how much he could get in the market. Perfect work scenario there.

1) You can't offer JT an 8 year contract
2) JT gets more than 10M AAV

Oh you are totally right about the 8yr contract. I'm not sure he gets more than 10 mil though.

Also: The Thornton signing could totally be avoided to give Tavares a little more if necessary. Who knows what his injury situation is.

Sent Sorensen down to AHL, gave Tavares 7 years and an extra 500k.

Cap wont go to $80M. The most it will go up is $3M. You also need to leave space for a 7th D. Tierney will get a standard bridge at no more than $3M per season for 3 years.

I think you're overvaluing both Tierney and Hertl. I think Tierney will be 4 year/2.5m. Hertl will be 5 year 4.5m.

I'd love to see JT in teal at that term/year, but I'd be shocked. Also, Martin might be going soon we we wouldn't need to buyout.

I also think Dell is going to get traded, but who knows. Not bad.

With a $80 million salary cap John Tavares gets closer to $12 million not the $10.5 million you're offering.

Both Bettman and Daley are on record saying that the cap will be closer to $80 million then $78 million and Daley should know seeing that he's over the NHLPA who makes the decision to raise the cap in the first place.

Seems like the consensus is JT gets more and Tierney and Hertl were overvalued. Whatever Sharks can save on those two should go to JT and make up the difference. I think Dell and Martin probably get traded too but I operated under the assumption the team is basically as is in the offseason.

I have also heard the cap will be closer to 80 mil but anything can happen between now and then.

Incorrect. They are both on record saying the cap could be anywhere from $78-82 million. This is all dependent on the Canadian dollar, league revenues, as well as NHLPA board voting. The Canadian dollar isn't preforming as hoped, league revenues have slowed, and although players like it, after getting hosed in escrow, I don't think they're voting for a $5M increase in cap which will effect their escrow percentage. It's probably closer to $78M than it is $80.

No they're on record saying that the salary cap would be between $78-$82 million that's correct at the beginning, Then they said that the league generating between $4.5-$5.0 billion that the salary cap would be closer to the $80 million figure then the $78 million figure. If i can find the article i will show you. But both Bettman and Daley said that the salary cap would be closer to the $80 million figure then $78 million figure.

That was at the very beginning of the season. Just after the additional VGK cash infusion into the league, which has now slowed. If you want to go spend the hours I have spent looking at the leagues revenues and how they have slowed, as well as looking at the trends in the value of the Canadian dollar, which is not good, then feel free. Or you can just believe common sense stuff from a guy whos been in finance his entire adult life. Also, talking to some of the players, they just don't seem all that thrilled with voting for massive cap increases if it means their escrow goes sky high. But please tell me how you believe Bettman and Daley who are never open about anything.
