If Matthews is getting 12M, I think 6.25M would be pretty conservative for Nylander. If Toronto's smart they'll take car of Nylander's deal first before they sign Matthews to an extension. I think Edmonton made a big mistake signing McDavid before Drasaitl because it really drove up Drasaitl's asking price. They could have potentially saved 1M per year if they had signed him first. The way contracts are going these days, Nylander could probably get 7-7.5M if he signs before Matthews, maybe up to 8M after. I don't think there's any way Nylander signs for less than 7 years.
